A number of records have been broken this tourist season in Croatia. It might be September but beaches along the Adriatic coast are still full in a number of places. One region that has had a champion summer is the region of Istria in Croatia’s north-west…

Hotels and campsites are still well populated and will be open until the end of October.

“We expect that in the next 5-6 days that we will welcome the 3 millionth tourist to Istria, which is around 20 days earlier than last year. Till the end of the year we expect 3.5 million tourists to visit which is a record for Istria, and also 23 million overnight stays which will also be a record,” said Istria Tourist Board Director Denis Ivošević.

One of the most popular destinations in Istria, Rovinj, has again not disappointed this year.

“We have had 2,750,000 overnight stays so far. In around 15 days we expect to pass 3 million overnight stays, which will be one week earlier than last year,” said Rovinj Tourist Board Director Odette Sapač.

“We believe that September will be an extremely good month and we expect it to be a few percentage points better than the record September last year,” added Ivošević.
