History Of British Airways Uniforms Modelled In Croatian Capital

Croatian girls modelled a collection of British Airways flight attendant uniforms from years gone by as British Airways held a function to mark the launch of its new service from London Heathrow to the Croatian capital Zagreb at the DoubleTree Hilton Hotel in Zagreb last night.

Guests, including the British Ambassador to Croatia David Slinn, the Croatian Ambassador to the UK Ivan Grdesic and Croatian Football Federation President Davor Suker, were taken for a stroll down memory lane as the catwalk show highlighted uniforms through the ages.

Crowd favourites included the late 1960’s red riding hood coat (5th from right) designed by Sir Hardy Amies, a dressmaker to the Queen, and British Airways famous “Paper” dress uniform from 1967 (1st from right) which were worn on routes between New York and the Caribbean. The dresses were made of fire-proof paper-like fabric and were discarded after each flight.

British Airways landed its first flight in the new service yesterday afternoon, and will fly daily between London Heathrow and Zagreb.
