Historic Gold for Croatia as Mario Možnik Becomes European Champion

MMGymnast Mario Možnik has become the first Croatian to win a gold medal at a European Championships…

Možnik (28) won gold in the men’s horizontal bar at the European Championships in Montpellier on Sunday with a high 14.833 points in the final. The gold medal was Croatia’s first ever gymnastic gold medal at a European Championships. It was however the second time Možnik has won a European Championship medal after he picked up silver, also in Montpellier, three years ago. Možnik also has a World Championship bronze medal.

Despite the European title, Možnik still requires a medal at the World Championships in Glasgow later this year to qualify for the Olympic Games in Rio in 2016.

Men’s Horizontal Bar final:
1. Mario Možnik (CRO) – 14.833
2. Sam Oldham (GB) – 14.766
3. Vlasios Maras (GRE) 14.666
