Google Dedicate ‘Doodle’ To Professor Balthazar’s Croatian Creator

Internet search engine Google have dedicated their ‘doodle’, or Google logo, to Croatian animator Zlatko Grgic, the creator of the famous animated series Professor Balthazar.

Grgic, who would have been 82 today, was also nominated for an Academy Award for Animated Short Film at the 1979 Academy Awards for his 1979 film Dream Doll. After emigrating to Canada in the 1960’s, Grgic was asked to join the National Film Board of Canada (NFB) after producers saw his film Scabies. He went on to direct and animate three shorts with the NFB.

Created at the Zagreb Film Studio, Professor Balthazar was shown on tv in the USA, Germany, Denmark, Finland, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, New Zealand, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, Sweden, Spain, Iran, Australia, Greece, Canada and Zimbabwe.
