First October Snow In 9 Years In Croatia

Croatians around the country woke up to snow on Sunday morning as the first snowfall of the year hit early. Autumn snowfall though is not a completely bizarre occurence for the country. October snow was last recorded 9 years ago.

“The last time it snowed in October in Croatia was in 2003, and before that in 1998 and 1997,” said Zoran Vakula from the state met office.

The cold snap brought strong winds which also closed motorways in the country on Sunday. The autumn-winter is set to last a couple of days before finer, warmer weather returns from Tuesday.
