Croats Abroad Weekend Roundup: Pain In Spain

Croatian international Ivan Rakitic was sent off in the 83rd minute during his side Seville’s 4:0 loss to Atletico Madrid in the Spanish 1st Division on the weekend.

Also in Spain, Luka Modric played 45 minutes for Real Madrid in their surprise loss to Real Betis 1:0.

Meanwhile, there was better news for former Croatian coach Slaven Bilic and current international Vedran Corluka in Russia. After a series of losses which put the former West Ham and Everton’s position as coach in jeopardy, his side Lokomotiv Moscow recorded their second win back to back.

It was a quiet weekend in the UK for Croatians with nobody finding the back of the net. Nikica Jelavic played the full 90 minutes for Everton in their 1:1 draw with Sunderland, while Mladen Petric also played the full match for Fulham in their 1:0 loss to Stoke City.
