Croatia’s First Ever Unpaid Salary Court Case Starts

The first ever court case involving unpaid salaries in Croatia has started in the Dalmatian city of Split, reports Croatian radiotelevision.

CEO of stone and marble company Jadrankamen from Pucisca on the island of Brac Vedran Vilovic (57) is before the courts charged with not paying the salaries of more than 280 workers.

A recent law change in Croatia now allows from those who do not pay workers salaries, which has been a major problem in Croatia for a long time, to be prosecuted by the courts. Vilovic is accused of not paying 288 workers their wages for November 2011 whilst the company was solvent.
