Croatia’s Boxing Future Bright as Duo Win Medals at Youth Olympics in China

CroatiaCroatia has a very impressive boxing history, with names such Željko Mavrović, Mate Parlov and Stipe Drviš making a big impact on the world stage, the future also looks bright, and two of those future stars has just picked up medals at the Youth Olympic Summer Games in Nanjing, China…

Toni Filipi and Luka Plantić have won silver and bronze medals at the games in their respective categories. On the last day of competition Filipi, who fights out of the ‘Zlatna rukavica’ club in Zadar, lost the final of the U91kg category to his Cuban counterpart to win silver, whilst Plantić came third in the middleweight category. Croatia’s gold medal winning swimmer Nikola Obrovac will have the honour of carrying the Croatian flag at the closing ceremony on Thursday. (HOO)
