Croatian shooter Snježana Pejčić has broken a world record at the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Cup at the Olympic Shooting Centre in Rio de Janeiro…

Pejčić (33), who already has an Olympic bronze medal from Beijing 2008, won the World Cup event with a score of 594 points in qualification to break the world record. The win means that Pejčić has qualified directly for the Olympic Games in Rio starting in the summer.

She is expected to be one of the favourites to win the women’s 50 metres three positions gold at the summer Olympic Games in Rio, but she is not getting ahead of herself.

“The Olympics are still far away. I need to focus on the next two World Cup stages in Munich and Baku. The Games are a completely different story,” she said after her record-breaking effort.
