Croatian Folklore Summer School Proves Popular

There were people from Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, USA, Germany, Hungary, Slovakia, Serbia and all over Croatia when the Croatian folklore summer school got underway in the Dalmatian city of Zadar on Thursday.

Organised for the first time in Zadar by Hrvatska Matica Iseljenika (Croatian Heritage Foundation), students at the summer school have a chance to learn all about Croatian folklore dance, costume, song and music of the Medjumurje, Podravina, Zargorje, Zagreb, Karlovac, Jastrebarsko, Gorski kotar, Grobnik and Istria region. For the first time students will also learn about dances from the Burgenland Croats. The summer school will run to 10 August when the students will perform a final concert of all they have learnt.
