Croatian Film at 66th Berlin Film Festival

George Clooney will be the star attraction tonight when “Hail, Caesar!” opens the 66th annual Berlin Film Festival…

Clooney stars in the Coen brothers directed film which opens the famous festival that first began back in 1951. The festival runs from 11-21 February and there will be a Croatian presence at this year’s competition.

Feature film S one strane (On the Other Side), directed by Zrinko Ogresta, is part of the official Panorama programme and will have its world premiere at the festival.

S one strane (On the Other Side) is a tense psychological drama arising from a screenplay by Mate Matišić and Zrinko Ogresta and followers nursing home worker Vesna who moved to Zagreb 20 years ago with her kids after fleeing events that they almost destroyed their lives. The film stars Ksenija Marinković, Lazar Ristovski, Tihana Lazović, Robert Budak and others.

Also at this year’s festival Croatian actress Tihana Lazović will be presented as part of the European Shooting Stars programme. Lazović, who has won a number of awards for her role in award-winning film The High Sun, was named among the Top 10 rising stars in the programme. Two other Croatian film professionals, director and writer Antoneta Alamat Kusijanović and producer Tibor Keser, will be presented at the festival as part of the Berlin Talents programme.
