“It is with great pleasure and anticipation that we announce that Croatia adds yet another avenue to showcase our athletic prowess and success in the world of sports. The ball hockey governing bodies ISBHF and WBHF have granted Croatia a place amongst the world elite,” Zoran Nosić, Vice President / General Manager of the first ever Croatian National Ball Hockey Association, told Croatia Week.

Croatia will challenge for the WBHF Men’s World Championship title on May 24-31st 2015 in Pittsburgh PA at the Robert Morris University Island Sports Centre, and Nosić hopes that the local community can come down and get behind the Croatian team.

“Come out and support our Croatian team as it strives for excellence. Bring your tamburas and friends to really make it a true fešta!” said Nosić, adding that they are also on the lookout for new players.

“We are also looking to fill out our roster with players who have quality hockey experience. You can be part of this historic event. Please provide a detailed resume of your experience and current club/league affiliation. Contact Zoran Nosić [email protected] asap. There are also sponsorship opportunities so please get in touch if you are able to help out.”

Ball Hockey is patterned after and closely related to ice hockey, except the game is played on foot on a non-ice surface, player equipment is different, and a ball is used instead of a hockey puck. The object of the game is to score more goals than the opposing team by shooting the ball into the opposing team’s net.
