Croatia To Host Beach Soccer Tournament For The First Time

Famous in Brazil, beach soccer is coming to Croatia. For the first time ever Croatia will host an international beach soccer tournament – The Umag Beach Soccer Masters 2013.

The Stella Maris sports centre in the northern Adriatic town of Umag will be the venue for the tournament which will see Germany, Holland, Bulgaria, Hungary and for the first time a beach soccer representative side from Croatia battle it out from 28-29 June.

Beach soccer, which first held a tournament on the beaches in Rio de Janeiro in 1992 and is sanctioned by the sport’s governing body FIFA, is one of the fastest growing sports in the world and is expected to be part of the 2016 Olympic Games in Brazil.
