Croatia Smashes Tourism Records

Minister of Tourism Darko Lorencin and Croatian Tourist Board director Meri Matešić have presented the results from the successful 2013 year on Friday, and the news was all good. 2013 was a record year for Croatia for arrivals and overnight stays an important measure in the tourism industry. Whilst new records were set in those areas, the record year for revenues generated from tourism remains at 2008 (7.4 billion euros compared with 7 billion in 2013).

According to official data, 12.43 million tourists visited Croatia, growth of 5.5%, with 72 million, 105 thousand overnight stats, up 4.1% from 2012. Foreign tourists made up 11.1 million of the arrivals, which was 6.1% more than the previous year. Germans were the number one visitors, with around 2 million visiting Croatia in 2013. The Poles and the Brits were two nations which had double-digit growth in visitor numbers to Croatia.
