Croatia Helps Build Water Pump in Afghanistan

The completed water tower and fresh water pump in Mazar-e Sharif, Faizabad settlement, was handed over for use on 11 December. The project was part of Croatia’s international development cooperation programme and support for Small Development Projects in Afghanistan. It was handed over by political advisor at the Office of the Senior Civilian Representative at Regional Command North, Miljenko Ugarković.

This project provides a community of settles from various parts of Afghanistan with fresh water, enabling further construction of settlement. The Afghan project team has thanked the Croatian Government for financing and completing a project of vital importance to the local community. The project was worth USD 13,000, with the local community ensuring 30 per cent of finances.

Croatia has so far realized more than 50 projects in Afghanistan worth USD 4.7 million, with about USD 100,000 allocated for Small Development Projects. The SDP accomplishes visible results that benefit the local population, where Croatia has been recognized as a country successfully implementing development cooperation, reports the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
