Croatia Gets Film in Official Selection at Cannes Film Festival for First Time

It was announced today in Paris that Zvizdan (The High Sun), directed by Dalibor Matanić, is in Un Certain Regard, a section of the Cannes Film Festival’s official selection. The film, which will make its debut at the 68th Cannes Film Festival, is a love story which shows the force which is necessary to rise above the negativity encountered in everyday life to love in its purity. Zvizdan stars Tihana Lazović, Goran Marković, Nives Ivanković, Dado Ćosić, Stipe Radoja, Trpimir Jurkić, Mira Banjac, Slavko Sobin, Lukrecija Tudor, Tara Rosandić and Ksenija Marinković.

Since 1991 there has been 5 films from Croatia to feature at Cannes, but this is the first time that a film has made the official selection programme of the most prestigious of all the film festivals. (photo / HAVC)
