Croatia Create History at International Geography Olympics

The Croatian team has created history at the Geography Olympics which ended recently in Kyoto, Japan, when it collected four medals.

“Our four team members will come back with medals. Although we expected the excellent results, I must admit that they surprised me and that I am very proud of them, as if everyone in the Croatian Geography Association,” said President Ruzica Vuk.

Petra Pajtak and Mislav Glibo picked up gold medals, whilst Vedran Mihal and Katarina Pavlek won silver medals. The Croatian team finished in 2nd place out of 32 nations at the Olympics, its best ever result since appearing at the event. The International Geography Olympiad (iGeO) is an annual competition for the best 16 to 19-year-old geography students from National Geography Olympiads. The competition consists of three parts: a written test, a multimedia test and a substantial field work exercise.
