Croatia, fielding a new young side to that which won Gold at the London Olympics in 2012, beat the United States 8-6 (2-2, 3-1, 2-0, 1-3) in the 3rd and 4th playoff match on the weekend. Croatia has now won 4 bronze and 1 gold medal at the last 5 World Cups.
“This really is a great achievement considering we came to the World Cup with a young team. We played the perfect match (v USA) and I congratulate all the players and management staff,” said coach Ivica Tucak after the match.
