Croatia

The Netherlands has been ranked number one in the annual Euro Health Consumer Index (EHCI) which compares healthcare systems in Europe, whilst Croatia has come in at 19th position…

It is the fourth year in a row that The Netherlands have taken out the top spot in the survey which measures 48 indicators, such as patient rights and information, accessibility, and prevention and outcomes. Croatia finished 19th out of 35 European countries with 656 points, a slight drop from 17th position last year (655 points). The Netherlands scored 870 of a maximum 1,000 points.

In the EU, the Netherlands was followed by Denmark, Belgium and Germany as the countries with the best healthcare, while Romania, Portugal and Latvia and Serbia scored the lowest. Croatia’s neighbours Slovenia finished in 17th spot, with Hungary taking 28th position. The EHCI is compiled using a combination of public statistics, patient polls and independent research conducted by Swedish NGO Health Consumer Powerhouse (HCP).
