Croat Wins Sony World Photography Award In London

Croatian photographer Nenad Saljic has won a Sony World Photography Award for the best landscape photo for 2013 at an awards ceremony in London.

Saljic (51) from the Dalmatian city of Split, beat more than 122,000 entrants from 170 countries to win with his photo, ‘The Matterhorn at full moon’, and with it became the first Croat to win this award.

Saljic took a series of photos of the Pennine Alps mountain between 3am and 5am during a strong wind and minus 15 degrees temperatures last year, the photo also won anaward at the 2012 National Geographic Photo Contest.
