Brothers to Face Each Other at World Handball Championship in Qatar

CWWWhen Croatia take on Bosnia and Herzegovina at the World Handball Championships in Qatar today there will be one family watching on their television set at home that will not be too bothered about which team wins…

The Karačić family have a foot in each camp. 26-year-old Igor Karačić will be in Croatia’s side, whilst his older brother, 29-year-old Ivan, will be representing Bosnia and Herzegovina. It will be the first time that the Mostar-born brothers have squared off at a major championship.

“It is really a nice story. Two brothers, at the World Championships, playing for two different countries, based at the same hotel. It is my first time at a World Championship, his too, and a first for Bosnia and Herzegovina, in the same group too, really a nice story,” Igor said.

Croatia have already qualified for the next stages of the tournament, whilst Bosnia will be playing for pride.

“I wish Croatia all the luck, I hope that they win the gold medal. When my brother wins, it is like I win,” Ivan added.
