Barcelona to Loan Alen Halilović to Sporting Gijón

marcaBarcelona have sent Croatian midfielder Alen Halilović out on loan to fellow Spanish first division side Sporting Gijón, the player’s agent has confirmed…

Halilović, who played mostly for Barca B since arriving from Dinamo Zagreb last summer, will move to Sporting Gijón on a 1-year loan. The 19-year-old’s agent Zoran Stojadinović told Spanish media that Alen will join the side on Friday.

“The player has made his mind up. It’s all agreed in principle. In football, nothing is done until it’s signed, but there’s an agreement between the parties and the boy will make progress on the pitch there this year. The deal will be signed unless there’s a serious problem and I don’t see why there would be one. We’ll sign on Friday, it hasn’t happened before because I’m away and can’t travel there until Friday,” the agent was quoted as saying.

The move will give Halilović the opportunity to play regular first team football in Spain, something he has failed to do since joining Barcelona last year.
