Alen Halilović Debuts for Barcelona: ‘Special Day for Me’

Halilović (18), who signed for Barcelona last summer, has spent six months in the Barcelona B side which plays in the second division. On Thursday however Barcelona coach Luis Enrique gave the 7-cap international his first outing.

“It’s a special day for me. I’m really happy. I am really happy here. I have some confidence now but I still need to work hard and learn,” said the former Dinamo Zagreb midfielder, who came on last night in the 62nd minute and immediately hit the post.

“There will be time for goals,” added Halilović.

Halilović debuted last night in the number 30 shirt, the same number Lionel Messi wore in his debut for the Catalan club back in 2004.
