The fan responsible for leaving a pile of medals on the grave of legendary Croatian basketball player Dražen Petrović has been revealed as an 18-year-old from Dalmatia, although he still wants to remain anonymous…

Dražen’s mother Biserka Petrović turned up to the Mirogoj cemetery in Zagreb on Monday for one of her regular visits to her son’s grave only to discover somebody had left 16 medals, from tournament wins in Croatia and Italy, without any message.

“The most amazing thing about the story is that the boy did not tell his parents that he was going to Zagreb (from Dalmatia). He sat on a bus, left the medals, and returned that night. When the boy’s mother saw the story on the news she went into his room and the whole wall was empty,” Biserka told RTL.

The medals will go on display at the Dražen Petrović Museum-Memorial Centre in Zagreb along with other items left at his grave.
